I’m sure most of ya’ll know and most probably have heard that stunning song by the lovely John Legend titled, “All of me.” Both my husband and I love that song to pieces; I actually had that song playing on repeat in my car, on my phone, and on my laptop (when I was writing/studying) for a whole month! I even sang that song to my 1-year-old daughter a few times to make her fall asleep. And it worked wonders! Just the other day, I was singing the song to Zohal — my daughter — and she suddenly started to hum it too. I melted!
So, just out of pure fun, I decided to change up the lyrics of the original song a little bit so that I could dedicate it to my baby girl. I’m not great with humour, but I tried! I hope my little darling reads this some day, hopefully with a smile on her face. I know this is not original and trust me, I am really struggling to write an original poem for my daughter, explaining my unending love for her, but I still haven’t found the words yet — the perfect words to describe how perfect she is. Perhaps some day. Soon. 🙂
Anyway, here’s my Zohalu malu’s version of “All of me” 😀
What would I do without your sweet babbling?
Drawing me in, as I try to understand
You’ve got my head spinning, no kidding, I can’t get enough of you
What’s going on in that beautiful mind?
I’m on your magical diaper ride
And I’m so sleepy, don’t know what day it is, but I’ll be all right
My head’s almost bald
But I am doing fine
You’re so adorable and I’m going out of my mind
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your dimples and all your baby fat
And all the cutesy little things that you do
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when you’re asleep, I lie awake and watch you
‘Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you
How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too
The way your mouth droops, your face scrunches, oh my, how I want to kiss you!
But know that I’m around through every mood
You’re my love, you’re my life
My best distraction, my tabla and rabab
I can’t stop singing, those annoying nursery rhymes, in my head for you…
